WhaBuzz vs Gupshup

Gupshup is a large conversational messaging platform with campaigns, AI agents, WhatsApp Flows and voice, and a self-serve fee of 0.001 USD per message on top of Meta's charges. WhaBuzz is a smaller, newer API for developers: Meta's own bodies, ₹500 a month for the first number, and nothing per message.

According to Gupshup's self-serve pricing page, the fee structure is stated as follows.

Gupshup charges a standard 0.001 USD per message fee. WhatsApp charges message based fee and it is billed at actuals.

At 1,00,000 template messages a month, that fee is 100 USD (1,00,000 × 0.001) before Meta's charges. WhaBuzz's fee at the same volume is ₹500 plus GST.

When should you pick Gupshup?

Pick Gupshup when you want more than an API. Per its WhatsApp API page, it offers campaigns, AI agents, WhatsApp Flows, commerce and Click-to-WhatsApp ads, and it says it has been "the only company awarded Meta's Partner of the Year in both 2023 and 2024". That is Gupshup's own claim. It also describes itself as trusted by 50,000+ customers and handling 120 billion+ messages a year, a scale and track record WhaBuzz does not have.

It also fits teams that need voice, enterprise terms or a vendor with a long operating history. WhaBuzz went live on 16 Oct 2026 and traffic is still low.

When should you pick WhaBuzz?

Pick WhaBuzz when a developer owns the integration and wants a predictable bill. You send Meta's bodies unchanged, Meta's errors come back verbatim in error, with source: "meta", and every response carries a request_id. Webhooks are signed and retried for up to 24 hours, with replay within your retention window.

The fee does not move with volume. Meta's charges go to your own Meta account at Meta's rate, and WhaBuzz does not mark them up. The trade-off: no inbox, no campaign tool, no chatbot builder. Keep opt-in and opt-out state in your own system.

How do you move from Gupshup to WhaBuzz?

Check who owns your WhatsApp Business Account first. If it is yours, the number, approved templates, quality rating and tier stay with it, and you can connect it through Meta's signup popup. Campaigns, flows, inbox history and contact lists stay behind, and your send and webhook code must change to Meta's shapes.

The steps are in the migration guide. The same ideas are covered for another provider in moving from WATI.
